When to cut a subscription?
Subscription is the expense that grows silently the most in 2026. Not by the unit value (usually R$ 30-90), but by volume, between 8 and 14 active subscriptions is the standard for Brazilian adults between 25-45 years.
Criteria to cut
- I haven’t used it in the last 30 days (even if "I will use it next month").
- I forgot I had it (definitive sign: it doesn’t charge).
- I have overlapping subscriptions (two music apps, for example).
- I pay for the paid version, but the free version covers 90% of the use.
- I subscribed because of a specific feature I no longer use.
Criteria to keep
- I use it at least once a week.
- It is part of work or professional study.
- It replaces a higher cost (Spotify replaces CDs/individual downloads).
- It is part of a consolidated family routine.
How to detect all subscriptions
Take 3 months of bills and look for amounts that appear in all three months, on the same day (or close). It is the most reliable way to identify disguised recurrences. Or use Monse, which automatically detects repetitive patterns.
